Rwanda Safari Operators
Rwanda is well known to be a landlocked country and situated on the eastern edge of the Albertine Rift close to the western Great Rift Valley. Rwanda has a green vegetation landscape that is seen on the thousand hills surrounding the country. Its acknowledged to be the land of many hills. It’s one exciting destination with great safaris, tours as well as adventures. For example bird watching, gorilla trekking, Chimpanzee tracking, wildlife safaris, city tours and cultural interactions among the local peopel. The virunga volcanoes harbors a bigger number of gorillas and tracking is easily done on the slopes of the mountain that is surrounded with bamboo. It’s a place where the late Dian Fossey is believed to have carried out his studies on the features of the endangered Mountain gorillas for over 20 years.
The Akagera National Park covers an area of about 2500 sq km of savannah, its a great park for game viewing and a visit to this park will give you an opportunity to see and take photos of the big five and these include rhino, leopard, buffalo, elephant and lion. Other animals spotted in this area include antelopes, hippos, crocodiles, zebras and giraffes. A Nile cruise along river Kagera will enable you see the hippos and crocodiles cool off the heat as they keep watch of the animals that come to drink water. Lake Kivu is known to be the deepest lake in Africa with fresh water and its located in Rwanda with beautiful beaches and islands that are frequently visited. The tourism sector is doing well in this country.
The Nyungwe National Forest Park is a mountainous rainforest and the largest in Central Africa. Its one destination that is suitable for chimpanzee tracking and also viewing the golden monkeys. Gorilla tracking or chimpanzee is a bit challenging and tedious; it takes so many hours trekking in the dense forest. The excitement comes about when you discover them in their natural setting playing, feeding or resting. It’s such a great moment in everyone’s life, you realize how close humans look like them. To much joy may driving you closer to them but it’s advisable that you keep some distance between you and them for security reasons. Photographing is allowed although you are kindly reminded to avoid flash light camaras. This light may scare them and thus locate to some other area.
Virunga Volcanoes and Akagera are popular places known for bird watching, these areas have about 650 different kinds of birds and of which 44 species are only discovered in Rwanda. Common birds seen include shoe bill, sunbird, owl, eagle, the little bee-eater and many more. A safari to Rwanda will make you love their culture; it’s so amazing with hospitable people that will tell so many stories some concerning the 1994 genocide. The story is so touching and believe me you will end up visiting the Genocide Memorial Site.
For those people who love bird watching, Akagera and the Virunga Volcanoes are the best sites in Rwanda. From these two sites, you can watch about 650 species of birds. Of this, 44 species are only spotted in Rwanda. These birds include the little bee- eater, the eagle, owl, Sunbird, shoe bill and many others. A safari to Rwanda also gives you an opportunity to interact with the local people. From this interaction you get to learn about their history including the 1994 genocide where hundreds of people including children were killed. You also get to learn more about this by visiting the Genocide Memorial Site. Plan for a safari to Rwanda adventure with its mountain gorillas.
