Studying in Uganda is one of the most awesome experiences you will ever encounter. Uganda has basically four levels of Education following a linear path from; kindergarten to primary school to secondary school and finally university. You spend at least thirteen or more years before finally joining university and it’s at university, that most students experience the highest level of liberty and freedom and also decide what their future life is going to be like. There are several public and private universities offering Art and Science oriented programmes offering diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and doctoral studies and obviously at preferably a study program of your choice. PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES
Makerere University. It’s Uganda’s largest and third-oldest institution of higher learning and has been ranked among the top five universities in Africa. It has over 10 halls of residence with about six for the males and twice. It also boasts of one of the best, biggest and fully stocked libraries. Though the main campus is located in Wandegeya, a Kampala suburb, there are several other campuses located in the East, North and southern part of Uganda. Some notable alumni include; Julius Nyerere, the first president of Tanzania, Joseph Kabila, president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Benedicto Kiwanuka, first prime minister and first chief justice of Uganda and many other more. Makerere University Business School. This is the business school of Makerere University established in 1997 and like it’s mother school, it’s the biggest business school in the country offering both graduate and undergraduate courses. Mbarara University of Science and Technology alias Mbarara University is located in the south Western part of uganda. Busitema University. This university was founded in 2007 and is found on the Jinja – Tororo Highway in Busia District. Â It has its focus emphasised on the instruction of agricultural sciences, agricultural mechanisation, and agribusiness.The University also has about six campuses all distributed with the eastern part of uganda in regions of Tororo, Mbale, Kaliro, pallisa, Soroti and many others. Muni University. Formerly known as West Nile university is located in the West Nile region of Uganda. It has four campuses but all distributed around the west Nile region. It’s one of Uganda’s youngest university that had its first class of 200 students admitted in November 2014. Public universities are the only universities that offer government sponsorship to Ugandan nationals. But however something to know is that the institutions have both government-sponsored and privately sponsored students. Plus it has students coming from all nationalities.
