When you move around Kampala road, you will see many shops offering discounts on laptops and displaying credible brands such as Dell, Toshiba, HP, Asus, Lenovo, Apple, Samsung, Acer,Life and Sony.

When deciding on which laptop to buy, compare the price, check its processor to ensure that it will run the applications that you want for doing some serious work or relaxing with that latest video game. Its all about the price, the size and the advanced features. Here are some areas to consider.

1. The Inch Size

Depending on how often you move with your laptop, you might need a size that fits into your bag for ladies. A laptop from 12.5 to 14 inch of screen should be ok. But if you are poised to use heavy graphics in an office setting, you need something bigger than that. Also consider the resolution of 1920 X 1080 screen.

2. The Processor

You have heard that indian say something like core this and core that.. If you are spending over 1.2 million as the cost of your laptop, you need to aim at Core i5 CPU. The Core i3 is relatively cheaper, 1,000,000/= should be okay.

3. RAM

We reccomend between 3GB to 8 GB ram. This should be okay for most users in Kampala and other areas.

4. Battery Life

With the power issues in Uganda especially during the rainy season, it’s important to consider the battery life of most of the laptops. Some second hand laptops on sale in Uganda have less than 4 hours. Please consider the battery life of 8 hours or more. It is very important for you to check on that feature.

5.Windows or MAC

Which ever operating system you decide on, a MAC attracts a lot of uncalled for expenditure. MAC applications are expensive and so is their price in Uganda. Most sofware applications sold on Kampala Road are Windows based.

6. Storage SSD

It is important to consider storage, anything above 256GB for SSD is very ideal. The 512 model is good but expensive. With the rise in usage of storage web based applications, our music,videosand photos are much more safer. If you play lots of games, you might need over 500GB
