Northern Bypass work speeds up
The constructors of the Kampala Northern Bypass have intensified the speed at which they are working on the 21-kilometre road. Following the importation of more equipment from Nigeria, they are working day and night in order to meet the November 15 deadline.
During the night working sessions, the workers are guarded by armed special police constables and they use generator-powered flood-lights. In the previous week, they have been concentrating on the basement of the fly-over bridge that is raised at Bwaise, along Bombo road.
The Road Agency Formation Unit spokes person, Dan Alinange, said the effort was not only about meeting the deadline but also possible penalties that can arise in case of failure to meet it. He expects that having more imported machines and the favorable dry season, construction would move faster than before.
