The Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA) has forewarned members against abusing incentives offered by government including tax waivers on building materials and related items to enable them provide adequate and modern accommodation for anticipated visitors who will attend the commonwealth summit(CHOGM) in November, this year.
The chairman of the Association, Bulayimu Kibirige expressed dissatisfaction that some fellow members had abused the incentives by illegally putting imported items on the local market; something he predicted that would make them lose business.
He said this when speaking at a party organized by hoteliers to celebrate awards they received from the Uganda Investment Authority of late. The winners included; Kampala Serena Hotel (Gold), Hotel Africana (Silver), Ankrah foundation (Bronze), whereas Mirembe Resort Hotel and Ssese Island beach Hotel also won in special categories.
