Chobe Safari Lodge Uganda

Chobe Safari Lodge the most luxurious Safari lodge ever constructed in Uganda,
has opened its doors to the public and is encouraging  Uganda safari visitors to come savour the
magnificence of the new “Gem on the Nile” by taking advantage of a special pre-

opening offer.

“This is by far the biggest investment ever made by the Madhvani Group in the
hospitality sector in Uganda” said Mani Khan, the Director of Tourism Operations. “Over
13 million dollars has been invested in order to bring Chobe Lodge to world class
standards. A fusion of local materials and blended with modernity has created a
signature luxury safari style that is unique to Chobe Lodge .We are confident this will
become the gem in Uganda’s tourism crown and one of East Africa’s top luxury holiday

destinations”.

Following decades of being abandoned the new Chobe Safari Lodge, located in
Murchison Falls National Park, now exudes elegance and energy once again. Each
category of accommodation narrates a tale of comfort and luxury for the discerning
visitor ranging from the Presidential Cottage, to the various categories of luxury tents
and the 36 elegant guest rooms. All narrate luxury and comfort and draw inspiration
from the African Safari and yet are modern in their amenities and facilities but
charmingly rustic within their individual setting. The River Nile is the focal point of all
the accommodation with the balconies all facing the magnificent sweeping views of the
river.

Murchison Falls National Park is the largest National Park in Uganda. With this section
of the park having been isolated with few encounters between humans and wildlife, the
wildlife has thrived although unfamiliar to human contact. Uganda Wildlife Authority, the
body entrusted with the management and conservation of the park, are in the process of
opening up circuits in the vicinity of the Lodge for our guests to view the superb wildlife
in the immediate surrounds. Richard Hodgson, the General Manager, said one of the
main attractions guests can look forward to when they visit the lodge is the abundant
game viewing, “due to the fact that the area has been largely uninhabited for more than
30 years the amount of game multiplied incredibly and as a result the area is now one of

the most densely populated wildlife regions in East Africa”.

Guests who are a little less adventurous and prefer activities closer to the Lodge can
either relax by the pool, engage in some sports fishing or simply enjoy the stunning
views overlooking the majestic river Nile from the main open terrace restaurant.
Getting to the lodge is very easy, unlike many other destinations Chobe is easily
accessible by saloon car as most of the trip is on newly laid tarmac and the average
journey should take no longer than three and a half hours, given Chobe Safari Lodge

is only 280 km from Kampala.

Details of the special offer are available from the Marasa Central Reservations offices .

Notes for the Editors

Historically Chobe Safari Lodge’s reputation was based on the location being a haven
to the global angler. Following an era of the site being totally undisturbed this part of
the river once again offers a challenge to the sporting angler and indeed the Lodge’s
resident specialist angler has already often caught Nile Perch exceeding 80 kgs. making
Chobe one of the best location for fishing on the continent.

The lodge was closed for over 30 years after it was looted at the end of the 1979
liberation war and due to insecurity in the North during the 1980’ and 90’s.
The Madhvani Group has spent over $13 million dollars over the last 2 years
renovating the property into a 5 star resort.

Chobe is one of three luxury hospitality investments made by the Madhvani Group in
Uganda the others include Paraa Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park and
Mweya Safari Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
