Food Shortage Africa, NGO sets up Bank to Aid Food Production

The Hunger Project Uganda has opened a rural bank in Eastern Uganda-Iganga to offer cheap credit facilties to rural farmers to increase food production in the region.
Speaking during thje opening of the bank last week, Hunger Project Country Director  Irene Muwanguzi said the bank would offer affordable agriculture loans to farmers and assist them to develop a saving culture.
She said the initiated the bank to minimise hunger. We thought that the best way of fighting escalating hunger in the country is to empower farmers by giving them affordable loans to grow more food, She said.
