Kidepo Airstrip, CAA to give facelift to aid Uganda flights to Kidepo

Uganda civil Aviation have it that  Kidepo is to be up graded and that tender offers to re-gravel the CAA-owned and operated field in the Kidepo Valley National Park. Flying into the remote park, which is located in the border triangle between Uganda, Kenya, and the Southern Sudan, is the easiest way to reach there, and the safest way for that matter.  This will greatly improve Uganda flights to Kipedo and the Northern destinations of Uganda.

Soon or later, the plans have been to modify and develop area of Kasese, Jinja, Tororo, Kisoro, Masindi, Soroti, Gulu and others that are in the same condition like the ones mentioned above. The CAA takes control of various upcountry aerodromes and airports, of which some are, located in the national parks the likes Pakuba airstrip in Murchison’s Falls National Park, to endorse air travel and evade the tiresome and very long distances by road. Tenders for upgrading and maintenance are also expected to be invited soon for these other fields like Arua, Masindi, Pakuba, Mbarara, Kisoro, Kasese, Jinja, Tororo, Lira, Moroto, Soroti, and Gulu, some of which are tarmacked, while others are under an all-weather gravel surface.

As we talk, shell is said to have run out of lubricants, this has however given more credibility to the proposals that those don not bother any more about the sector of fuel. This was all confirmed by the Aviation sources.
