Immense Security Plan for Chogm 2007
As a way to prevent terrorism during the Common Wealth Heads of Government Meeting in November, the Uganda government in charge of the preparations has put up an immense security plan.
Five security watch towers will be set up at the airport and security personnel will be deployed within a radius of 40km around the airport. During the time of the summit, there will be no sailing or surfing on some part Lake Victoria, and will be under strict surveillance.
This was revealed by Francis Rwego, the Deputy Inspector General of Police to Don McKinnon, the Secretary General of Common Wealth, on Saturday when he came to check the preparations for CHOGM by Uganda.
He was taken around the construction works going on at the Airport.
Ambrose Akankunda, the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority presented the ongoing renovation of the airport including the expansion of the international passenger terminal, construction of domestic passenger terminal, installation of a new radar to improve air traffic management, rescue and fire fighting services, emergency plans and VIP operations.
McKinnon also toured Munyonyo Common Wealth resort with 59 presidential suites under construction, Kampala Serena Centre, Sheraton Hotel, Hotel Africana, Imperial Royale Hotel and Golf course hotel as some of the hotels to be used for accommodation and conference rooms.

He will attend the conference for the women Affairs Ministers of Common Wealth countries at Munyonyo and latermeet with the president for further discussions on CHOGM 2007.
