Church prepares for CHOGM

The Kampala Archbishop, the Rt. Rev. Fr. Cyprian Lwanga Kizito is advocating for the renovation of Rubaga cathedral in preparation for CHOGM; to take place in November this year.

He said that the Cathedral is in need of over sh200m to renovate the leaking roof and was also optimistic that it will be one of the sites to be visited by the summit delegates.

He added that, Kampala Diocese will officially launch a fundraising programme for the repair of the Cathedral on February 25, at Rubaga. Closely related to this, he urged other parish priests to initiate the programme in their parishes.

To raise the funds of the Cathedral, every Adult Christian will donate sh1, 000 and Shs 500 for the children. This public call was made by the Archbishop during a mass and pastoral visit organized by the Ggaba Beach manager Kiwanuka. He was accompanied by priests from Kampala diocese and called upon Christians to work collectively as a church to renovate the Cathedral.
