WILLIAM STANLEY TO BOOST TOURISM IN UGANDA

William Stanley, the great grandson of Henry Morton Stanley one of the 19th century’s greatest explorers in Africa, promises to promote the tourism in Uganda.

William Stanley, who visited Uganda recently, will boost the tourism industry in Uganda by providing books and films of Uganda’s extraordinary variety of landscapes, from arid savannas to swamps, lakes, tropical forests, high mountains and wildlife.
These are to help promote Uganda as a tourist destination both at home and internationally, since tourism is now the country’s number 1 foreign exchange earner.

Stanley, who said that Uganda was exactly as his great grand father (Henry Morton Stanley) described it, visited the manager of Uganda Tourist Board (UTB) Mr. James Bahinguza, with whom they discussed Tourism potentials in Uganda. He also went up mountain Rwenzori with his wife, as a pilgrimage to follow in his great grandfather’s footsteps up the Rwenzori Mountain.

Henry Morton Stanley one of the 19th century’s greatest explorers in Africa discovered the Rwenzori Range and Lake Edward at the end of 1890.
