TOURISM MINISTRY ASKS GOV’T FOR FUNDING

Serapio Rukundo, State Minister for Tourism has asked the government to fund priority sectors of tourism.

The three areas, he said, are Tourism organisation, which currently stands at $260,000 (Shs478 million), Common Market for East and Southern Africa, which they say needs $380,000 (about Shs699 million) and United Nations Industrial Development Organisation that they say needs a budget of $11,000 (aboutShs20 million).

Rukundo said the tourism sector was missing out on a number of international exposure due to lack of funding. All this, he said, arise from the countries indebtedness in some areas of the sector.
