Russian Tourist Numbers up in Uganda
After a visit by the top tour operators in Russia last year, the number of tourists from the Russian market is increasing at unbelievable speed.
The Tour operators who visited last year went for sport fishing, wildlife safaris, boat cruistes on Victoria, Murchison falls and Kazinga Channel in the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
They also undertook adventure sports like white water rafting, mountain biking, quad biking, culture and the history of Uganda.
“Before, there has not been any Ugandan tour operating company coordinating the Russian tourists,” noted Sylvia Kalembe, the senior information officer at Tourism Uganda.
“Due to language barrier, it has not been easy to get Russian tourists,” Kalembe disclosed in an interview in Kampala last week.
The industry boomed last year after the $1m CNN awareness campaign under “Gifted by Nature” brand.
