Oil : Uganda Oil Discovery in Hoima to boost Economy

At the fourth discovery of oil in Hoima, the residents in this rural area are set to benefit from the infrastructure that is going to be developed in the region.
This is to enable the oil extraction and development. Currently over 60kms of roads have been constructed by the Heritage Oil and Gas and also the Hardman Resources.

Heritage’s country director Bryan Westwood has said that about 900 million shillings will be used for maintainance of infrastructure fo support the exploration of oil in Hoima.

A series of oil exploration began way back in 1997 in the Semliki Basin but it was dissappointing since the oil discovered hat high concentrations of cabon dioxide.

But in January 2006, Hardman discovered commercial oil deposits that can produce moer than 12,000 barrels per day.

Uganda the pearl of Africa has been having its largest source of ecomony in agriculture. The recent oil exploration in Uganda is bound to boost the ecomony and raise the standards of living in Uganda.
