There has been a 30% increase in the numbers of Ethiopian Airways’ passengers over the last five years.
This revelation was made at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, during celebrations to mark 40 years of uninterrupted service in Uganda. Ermejached Regassa, the country manager said that the airline had increased the frequency of flights from four flights a week to daily flights out of Entebbe and upgraded the aircraft to the new Boeing 737.
“During the bad times, some airlines pulled out, but we continued to provide uninterrupted air transport. We proved that we are dependable,†she said.
Regassa said the airline would continue providing improved services.
John Nasasira, the transport minister, said in a speech read by Patrick Sanya, the commissioner for transport regulation, that landlocked Uganda had benefited a lot from the airline through increased trade, tourism and business.
