HOCKEY BILLS TO BE PAID BY GOVERNMENT

A $200,000 (sh370m) modern hockey synthetic pitch will be put up soon.

This is after government offered to pay taxes worth sh111m for the turf to be brought in the country. The turf is a donation of the Olympic Solidarity and International Hockey Federation.

The development brings an aura of relief to the hockey fraternity, who were watching helplessly as the pitch was wearing away.

Work on the Lugogo hockey pitch had stalled after sports state minister Charles Bakkabulindi’s appeal to the ministry to pay taxes for the turf from Netherlands had hit a snag.
