Government to pay for hotel staff training
Following the renovation and establishment of hotels to raise 2, ooo additional rooms for accommodating delegates and heads of states during the commonwealth summit, there is growing need to train staff to service guests.
Training clinics for hotel staff have been set up and government has promised to pay for their training needs ahead of the Commonwealth heads of government meeting (CHOGM).There will be three weeks of intensive training, per intake.
The Executive director of Uganda Hotel Owner’s Association (UHOA), Ismail Sekandi asserted that; specialist skill development is greatly needed in the departments of front desk, security, house keeping, laundry, public relations, accounting ,food and beverage production, specifically; bar& restaurant.
He however, added that, hotel management and marketing skills are fully available in major accommodation facilities. This together with the hospitality of Ugandans will give guests comfortable stay and a memorable experience in the country.
