E-TICKETING TAKEN ON BY MOST UGANDANS

E-ticket (Electronic ticket) a paperless electronic document used for ticketing passengers, mainly in the commercial airline industry is develop ing with more Ugandans using the electronic methods to book flights, other than the traditional paper.

Almost all-major airlines worldwide now use this method of ticketing. In Uganda, Emirates, Kenya Airways, British Airways and SN Brussels use it. Kenyan Airways has been ranked third in Africa to promote E -ticketing.
Emirates Reservation and Ticketing Supervisor, Ms Sarina Pereira said that almost 90 percent of Ugandans now use E-ticketing, because they find it convenient, faster since all the information about passengers is stored electronically.”With E-ticketing, one can either take an E receipt, E ticket number (Reference) to the airport to confirm the booking.”

“The price of E ticketing is still the same, with the paper tickets because the costs of producing E tickets are very few but there is an increase in fuel prices.”
SN Brussels Airlines Sales Manager, Mr Roger Wamara said that according to International Airline Transport Association, the association that guides airlines Worldwide, all airlines would only use E-Ticketing by next year.
“Within less than two years when, E-ticketing was introduced, 98 percent Airlines passengers use them successfully, because it is fast, effective and stores passengers data safely,” he said.
