CHOGM 2007 hotel rates hiked, Museveni Probes

After a complaint from the Secretary General of the Common wealth John McKinnon that the hotel rates had been hiked from USD 100 to USD 999, The president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni has directed the Foregn Minister to investigate futher into this.

In preparation for CHOGM 2007, most hotel owners had increased the room rates partly due to the demand-supply factor and others argued that they are renovating and putting up other standard services which will more likely put the costs higher.
