Kidepo National Park is one of Uganda’s most spectacular parks with a wealth of wildlife and scenic beauty. It lies in the north-eastern horn of Uganda in Karamoja district and covers an area of 1442 sq. kms. Being drier than Uganda’s other parks, Uganda Vacations this impressive natural reserve contains a different eco-system from any other area in Uganda, giving visitors a more complete understanding of Uganda’s vast bio-diversity. The park is a home to elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffalos, warthogs, duikers, hartebeests, lions, leopards, cheetahs and hundreds of bird species. A game drive around Narus valley offers visitors a chance to see the highest concentration of Buffalos, and Elephants. Other animals that may be seen roaming around include: Jackal, Zebras, Roans Antelope, waterbucks, warthogs, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Elands, Or ibis, Cheetahs, Leopards, Klipspringer, and Lions etc.
The park has got the highest concentration of birds endemic to Uganda like: Ostrich, Koori bustard, vultures, pygmy falcons, Eagles etc
Special organized groups/individuals will be given attention if they do want to visit the park any time
The distance is approximately 500km.
Estimated transit time is approximately 9- 10 Hrs.
DAY 1
This safari begins from Kampala or Entebbe. Departure time from Entebbe Airport is 4.00 PM and it takes one hour to reach the park over flying River Nile, Lake Kyoga, Lake Bisina, Mt. Elgon, hilltops, small towns and villages.
You will be transferred to Apoka by a 4 x 4 Truck. Relaxed around as you see animals close to the Camp. Dinner and overnight at Apoka Rest Camp.
DAY 2
Have an early cup of coffee, take a game drive to Narus valley; a spot which attracts the highest concentration of animals and birds due to the presence of water. Return to camp for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, excursion or a stay among the Karamojong lifestyle is rewarding. Here the visitors get a unique, unforgettable experience and understanding of the Nomads lifestyle around Karenga and Kapedo. The elders will show visitors the Kraals, grinding stone, local defence fence and cultural dance known as ‘Edonga’. Return to the Rest Camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3
Begin with breakfast in the morning. Drive to Kanangorok hot springs and Ostrich drive. Other animals like baboons may be seen roaming along the floor of Kidepo River and palm trees. Photography is a must at this spot! Return to Camp for your lunch ready to board your chartered flight Aircraft to Entebbe Airport or transfer to Kampala by road.
