Uganda Shopping Markets
SHOPPING MALLS
There are a number of shopping Malls in Kampala city that offer cheap and affordable shopping options. Most of these malls are easily accessible even using public means of transport. There are also a number of Supermarkets in the City suburbs like Wandegeya, Ntinda, Kabalagala and Bugolobi.
Garden City
Open Monday to Sunday, 8a.m. to 1a.m, Garden City is modern shopping mall located on Yusuf Lule and houses the Uchumi supermarket and a number of Boutiques, several restaurants, bars and a modern Casino as well as a cinema.
It also offers a wide range of services ranging from banking to telephony, couture to pharmaceuticals. It is a five-minute drive from the city center and the shopping complex boasts of ample and secure parking.
Shoprite
Shoprite is part of the chain of the South Africa Shoprite shopping malls and has two branches- Clock tower and Jinja road. Both branches offer services ranging from banking, telephony, restaurants, Internet cafes, fresh food and groceries.
Shoprite Malls have spacious parking and secure parking and from Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm.
Nakasero Market
This is located in the city center and this where you get quality fresh foodstuffs. The parking there is tricky and the market it is prone to thugs. It opens daily, from 5:am until about 8p.m.
St. Balikuddembe Market
Like Nakasero market, St Balikudembe (formerly Owino Market) is a downtown shopping center that deals in almost all local foodstuffs, and used (second-hand) goods. This is the biggest market in the East African region and harbors over 55,000 people.
Pioneer Mall
Pioneer Mall makes is located in the city center and offer a wide variety of goods, ranging from clothes to jewellery and shoes, phone shops and restaurants. It Opens everyday from 8am to 8pm.
