Bee Keeping
For many bee keeping is a favorite activity to them. Other than the pleasure of taking car of bees, bee keeping offers a wonderful tasty reward of honey. Additionally, this activity comes hand in hand with other advantages for example the bees are a good pollinator of the different plants in your garden and crop fields. Remember pollination is the basic aspect that increases crop production, fruits and vegetables.
As it is said “As busy as a bee”, you will discover that bees are naturally very industrious! They are so hard working to see to it that they gather nectar into their hive. Their lifespan is of approximately 35 days, after which their wings wear out and they can no longer engage in any communal activity, until they finally die.
The honey that bees store is supposed to help them during critical time when the number of flowers in their environment has lessened. Actually, you will discover that stimulated bees produce much more than what they can eat. It is at such times that beekeepers harvest large quantities of honey. There are two categories of honey. Firstly the honey sold by beekeepers is collected from the hives and it is in liquid form. On using centrifuge equipment which are popularly referred to as extractors, beekeepers can then remove the various honey combs. Secondly the honey can be sold in its original combs as here is a largely available market that prefers to consume such. Such honey is not fully processed for use, but for those who prefer natural, this is an added extra.
Unfortunately, many people are not aware of the various flavors and colors of honey on the market. Just like different flowers have different scents, so is it with the nectar from the various scented flowers. Also the type of the soil highly determines the scent or the smell of honey. Additionally, the soil type too affects the color/appearance of the honey. For example honey collected from nectar of the alfalfa flowers that usually grow in alkaline or dry soils is usually close to white or rather clear. And that which is collected from the buckwheat nectar that grows in the acidic soils is very darks. Furthermore the quality of the honeycombs affects the honey’s color, taste and appearance. So don’t be surprised if you come across red or green honey in addition to the usual golden.
Every bee keeper should comply with the regulations and rules that are established by the state. It is also recommended to cross check if there are any legal rules regarding the honey processing, handling or labeling processes. Normally different countries have different rules that apply to the production & processing process of bee products. Keep in mind that anyone who keeps bees for commercial purposes automatically is recognized by the state as a business.
Beekeepers should keep in mind the different market strategies. This will help them while selling honey plus other bee products. They most important questions that every beekeeper should ask himself or herself are: where to sell their honey, and who are their target customers. Today there are a variety of activities that people engage in as hobbies but the most rewarding of all is beekeeping. So always endeavor to expand on your business.

Tea
In the world today, tea stands out to be one among the most consumed popular beverages. This tea can be consumed in basically to forms, served as iced tea or taken as hot tea. Tea growing necessitates a lot of work just like the tae harvesting process. There are several varieties of tea today among which is the green, black tea and the oolong tea got from the camellia sinesis plant. The plucking together with the rolling, storing and spreading will determine the making of the tea. Tea growing involves several processes among which are: fertilizing, tea pruning, processing and harvesting.
Growing conditions: weather and good soil.
Tea is a predominantly grown crop in places of high altitude that have a chill climate all year round. Areas with uniform temperatures all year round provide the best growing environment. Tea can also be grown in greenhouses provided the soils a little more acidic. The tea plants grow t a height of 1-2 meters after which they are pruned and be maintained at a short height to ease plucking of the leaves. The plant produces light scented white budding that sweetly and charmingly spreads through the whole place. If un attended to, tea plants can grow up to a height of seventeen meters. In the United States, the Zone Eight climatic conditions are the most favorable.
Pruning
Tea pruning is basically done in two main ways which are: pruning of the immature plant or the mature plant. Pruning is a vital process that halts the vertical growth, enabling the plant to achieve the extended growth horizontally. This ease the harvesting of tea leaves and allows easier budding. It also allows branching in a superior pattern which will enable the plant produces more leaves plus buds. Also pruning helps you remove the unproductive wood from the tea plant. This entire process requires good quality work to work to properly shape the plants and effectively stimulate the rightful hormone in charge of vegetative plant growth.
Tea harvesting
Tea harvesting requires most time during the tea growing stages as it highly determines the quality of the produced tea. To generate good quality tea, it is advised that you pluck only the second and the third leaves together with their bud. It is also wise to prune the mature leaves prior to starting with the harvesting. The above mentioned plucking method is referred to as the fine plucking. With this technique, chances are high that the produced tea will be of excellent quality. Plucking of more than two leaves together with the bud is called coarse plucking and the tea quality produced from this technique is very low. For that reason chose the harvesting technique you want to using basing on the quality and the quantity of tea you want to produce. Fine plucking technique certainly produces better quality tea, whereas coarse plucking produces more quantities of tea. The processing method will then determine whether the final product is green tea, black tea oolong or the white tea.

Back in time, when the earth was very young with a small number of inhabitants, fish was hunter only for their personal consumption. If anyone desired fish, all they would go was go to the waters and get the fish. This was very easy ass most inhabitants had settled close to the water bodies. As time kept on changing, so did the fishing techniques. Today people living away from the water sources no longer have to travel long distances to go fishing instead, go to their local markets.
The growing human population resulted into an increased demand for fish and other sea food; and since then the fishing industry has evolved along with fish harvesting, processing, preserving, culturing, storage and transportation processes. Today, there is a wide variety of fish species always available on the market for human consumption
The three primary sectors in the fishing Industry are: traditional, commercial and recreational. The commercial sector is the actually the largest and most prevalent among the three and it is comprised of various processing chains among which are:
Fish can be harvested or collected through fish farming or commercial fishing. In the year 2005, 157.5 million tones which is approximated to 24.4 Kg for every average individual on earth was the total of fish harvested in the world from both aquaculture and sea capture. The fishing industry fortunately harvests a variety of fishes, mollusks, crustaceans and aquatic plants among others. Under the commercial fishing industry, the top producing countries include China, Japan, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Peru, US, Russia and Indonesia. Surprisingly, the overwhelming global demand for fish has depleted reserves in some water bodies and endangered some fish species making them vulnerable to extinction.
Aquaculture can be defined as the type of farming that involves growing of aquatic organisms in well controlled conditions. Mari-culture involves the same process but under marine environment whereas Agraculture involves the production of sea-weed or kelp plus other algae. Cultivating of cultured pearls and shrimp farming are the other categories of aquaculture. To meet the increasing demand fo the highly proteinous fish, farming of fish in large tanks and enclosed containers is an alternative commercial fishing type.
Fish processing results into production of fish products. The various types of fishes delivered from the different commercial fisheries together with the fish farms are all sorted during the processing stage. The fish products are sold out at wholesale to grocery-stores or other intermediaries. Fish handling is a sub-process under the fish processing stage which involves filleting together with freezing of the raw fish before it is distributed out. What follows is manufacturing of the different fish products. All these processes can be done on fish processing plants, fishing vessels or on fish processing vessels. Not only are sea products gathered to be consumed as food, some of the Chinese traditional medicine comprise of ingredients collected from star fish, sea cucumbers and sea horses. When clarifying beer or wine, isinglass is used.
Fish marketing involves the selling of fish and other sea produces in the various market places, supermarkets and wet markets. This can be in wholesale between the fishermen and the different merchants or in retail to individual consumers. Additionally is a live fish-food trade which joins together various fishing communities from the different markets.

Poultry Farming
If you opt for poultry faming, it is very vital that you understand and acquire the basic requirement to ensure that you incur minimal poultry losses from the birds’ birth until they reach a later stage. There are a number of precautions that you should always have in mind. Below are a few guidelines to help you reap hearty poultry.
Most poultry farmers specialize in chicken. They commonly purchase chicks that are days-old and brood them themselves. If you decide to take on this type of farming, there are 3 main elements in brooding chicken and these include adequate warmth, water plus food. These are very vital particularly in the early development stages of the chicks. Lack of any of these could result into a low body immunity that will cause harmful infections. For that matter ensure that you set up a suitable brooding environment for them. Caution should be taken not to excessively heat up their environment because this will definitely kill them. There should at all times be adequate food and clean water to acquire uniform growth of the birds. Remember that poultry farming necessitated extra attention and care as diseases easily spread and any small mistake can lead to severe losses.
In poultry farming there are several requirements when feeding the chicken. First and foremost, ensure that the feeders you are using are big enough for all the birds to be able to have eating space. When the feeder is small, grit will accumulate at the bottom making it appear that that the feeder still holds food. For starters avoid being so economical as this may affect your business in future.
Endeavour that during the cold winter seasons, you heat the water bottles to reasonable temperatures to avoid the birds from getting any infection. As you heat up the chicken house, ensure that the heat is evenly distributed. If the house is over heated, the chicks will crowd the cooler side(near the door) of the house. Use brooder stoves or tank warmers because with these chicks can easily regulate the temperature by either moving close or away from them. If you discover that your birds are panting, that is a sign of excessive heat, quickly regulate the temperature. Never under look any unusual signs for example poor appetite or chirping among chicks.
When it comes to the production section in this farming, there are a number of compulsory requirements. You have to be aware of the type of birds you are rearing, whether for eggs or for their chicken-meat. This will guide you in the production stage. Before moving the birds to a new house, ensure that it is clean will adequate water. The ration of female: male should be 3:1 respectively in each house. The nesting houses where the birds will lay their eggs should be very clean and pest free. The in-temperatures should be just enough to allow the birds breed comfortably.
Although there are several other cautions that you should put in mind will practicing poultry farming, the above are very vital and should be followed to the dot. Importance of agriculture:
Agriculture has a number of roles it plays in our lives. It is the basis to avail food to humanity and animals thus sustaining our lives. Chances of surviving agriculture would be very counted if we did not have agriculture because both man and animals would definitely die of starvation. Because of this, many people, researchers and policy makers have picked interest in agriculture because of its great significance to humanity.
Food:
For any country on this planet seeking to be entirely independent, they should be able to provide sufficient food for their citizens. And it only through engaging in the different agricultural practices that countries can meet the food demands of their people. By practicing crop and animal husbandry, countries will be able to acquire all necessities to feed their people. For that reason therefore, agriculture has provided all the necessary food supplements to nourish our bodies and keep us disease free.
Additionally agriculture is a reliable source of energy, for instance trees and other plants are cut for firewood. Also Bio-fuels are some of the latest discovery that provide us with energy.
Economic driver and poverty reduction:
Various parts of the world particularly the developed and still struggling economies, you will discover that the main backbone of their economy is agriculture. And it provides the largest percentage of employment opportunities in such countries. In addition to direct farming, various people are involved in processing industries and other agriculture related industries. Agriculture has greatly helped in eradicating poverty through providing employment and above all food. In many developing countries, their major export and chief foreign currency earner are agricultural produces.
Ecosystem:
Surprisingly, agriculture destroys and preserves the ecosystem. The level of destruction depends on the amount of activities taking place in a particular locality. The increasing population growth has led to greater demand for room for agriculture activities leading to an increase in the level at which forests and other vegetation are being cleared. Overgrazing plus deforestation have interfered with the ecosystem.
For instance, as we all know various grass species make up animal pastures. When animals over graze on a particular piece of land, the feed on the edible and leave behind the non-edible. It being that all the various grass species compete for the same nutrients, they can co-exist in the same ecosystem given that no species has an advantage over the other. But because of over grazing, the now-edible will stand out more advantageous than the edible grasses, thus causing them to die out thus changing the entire eco-system.
Destroying the atmosphere:
Intensive modern agriculture involves use of iproduction, large financial investments and labor. This modern farming has resulted into environmental pollution by by erosion, water poisoning through release of chemicals into the water table and release of agricultural chemical fumes into the atmosphere.
Additionally there has been an increase of green house gasses into the environment. These gases have greatly contributed to global warming, by depleting the ozone layer. So unless we practice sustainable agriculture, our atmosphere will be negatively impacted.

One of the major contributors to the society and the economy since way back in life is Agriculture. For centuries people have engaged in crop and animal husbandry. There are basically to major types of farming: sustainable farming and profitable farming. Sustainable farming relies on self-support and involves one growing enough to feed them and their family. this type of farming is more popular in the third world poorer countries, whereas profitable farming is more common on large scale in the western countries and those that are more developed.
Average families engaged in agriculture are usually equally wealthy and for them agriculture may be a business family that has been practiced for years. Just like all business enterprises, any agriculture business goes through high economic growth that later drops into low economic returns. To enable farmers and business enterprises to flow with the ever fluctuating agricultural sector, it is very important for government to lease the agricultural equipment for a given duration to them. Some of the commonly leased equipment includes: tractors, hay balers, the different ploughs seed-planting machines and harvesters. Other machinery for animal farming includes: graders, cattle truck, small tractors, road trains, cars and other types of heavy machinery. These machines are leased for an agreed duration after which they are returned to the leasing body. This practice is very common in this industry and it has greatly advantaged me and many farmers and business enterprises. The advantages of leased equipment are several among which it saves you from some government levies, equipment servicing, and storage, among many others. The main advantage of leasing agricultural equipment is that it saves you a lot of capital investment. Many farmers cannot afford the cost of purchasing a new harvester or a brand new tractor and yet they require using then during particular seasons of the year.

For years myths have emerged about the wonders of fertilizers. The pre war estate lead-gardeners have had their secret potions. Currently everything grown in the garden has something to feed it.
Before roots absorb the nutrients, they have to reduce them to simple compounds. Meaning that the all nutrients found in a liquid fertilizer have organic salts that available for immediate absorption by the plant roots, while the nutrients found in the clumsily ground-organic mixture may take months to be released.
Factually, the time to release the nutrients into the ground will depend on the type of the soil, the plants and the season. No particular fertilizer can provide all desired nutrients.
It is agreed by the majority of the garden experts that nitrogen, potash and phosphates are a necessity in the soil. These minerals can be found in both organic and inorganic fertilizers. It is also believed that they have different purposes which are very important.
Organic Fertilizers:
These fertilizers are produced from either plants or animals. They majorly provide nitrogen which nitrogen is converted into an inorganic nitrogen compound before it is absorbed by the plant roots. The Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria does this conversion, however these bacteria are inactive in acidic, waterlogged or cold soils, meaning that their speed of reaction will depend on the condition of the soils.
Inorganic Fertilizers:
Some of these fertilizers contain minerals that were extracted from different resources of the earth. Others have also been manufactured and are called synthetic or artificial fertilizers. Surprisingly, plants can differentiate between the two types of fertilizers. They are all broken down into the same compounds before being absorbed by the plant roots.
However, inorganic fertilizers are fast reacting and boost plant growth when used as a top-dressing. They are less inexpensive as compared to the organic ones and have become more popularly used in the recent years by farmers. Bone meal has remained a favorite among the available inorganic fertilizers.
