Masaka is one of the oldest districts in Uganda. It came into existence after the abolition of Buganda Kingdom in 1967. With an area of 4892 sq km Masaka is bordered by Rakai in the south, Mbarara in the west, Mpigi to the north east, Kalangala in the east and Lake Victoria to the south east.
Attractions: The most notable tourist attraction Lake Nabugabo with the fascinating bird species at its shore lines.
Climate: It lies at an altitude ranging between 1219 m and 1524 m above sea level.
