The idea of supermarkets and shopping at one stop centre is actually convenience. Customers normally get tired of walking in and out of shops looking for their favorite brand or products in the market. This simple idea makes supermarkets stand out as favorite shopping centers with everything that consumer’s want. This is the same concept that grocery stores and hypermarkets all over the world use.
It is so fascinating to find the supermarket stall with a variety of brands for one particular product! Although the consumer may be stranded on the best pick, at the end of the day, they have reason to walk around the supermarket. Many shoppers or customer all over have a favorite supermarket where they are more familiar with products in it, the arrangement/layout and are satisfied with the service they get
Supermarkets in Uganda
There are several supermarkets in Uganda, from every corner of the country or town across Uganda; you’ll find one or two to do have your shopping. Some of them have a chain of reputable branches in different towns and suburbs in Kampala while others are operational within Kampala.
Many of the supermarkets in Uganda have the same layout or arrangement of goods in the stores. Fresh fruits and vegetables are placed front…where the is fresh air…for many of them, you’ll find the fruits on a stall outside the store or in a section where the conditions are set to keep these fruits and vegetables fresh all the time and for several weeks to come. Some big supermarkets such as Uchumi Garden city, Shoprite, Nakkumat Oasis and Game at Lugogo Mall, you’ll find a butchery where several meats and beef products are sold. A bakery is another significant part of big supermarkets in Uganda. There you’ll get freshly baked bread and other baked snacks. These is a great way to capture customers who love to shop for fresh items
You’ll also find household items such as carpets and rugs in one section, utensils and cookware in another and toiletries in a separate section. This makes shopping much easier and convenient since the layout never changes and there are marked posts to show the location of every product category. Keep in mind that credit cards and visa cards are allowed in some supermarkets in Kampala and other supermarkets have Banks, ATM machines, clothes, electronic shops selling computers, mobile phones, television and kid’s toy.
Shopping at supermarkets and grocery stores in Uganda is also easier since all products have price tags and labels on them. Although you’ll find staff and attendants everywhere, you only need to call for their help if a product’s price is not easily printed on the item. With such an arrangement, you can do your shopping with disturbance from other customers.
For the festive season, weekends and school shopping, supermarkets are often busy and you’ll are likely to bump into other customers or make long lines at the counter, but this should not worry you. Make sure you do your shopping in the morning to avoid this kind of situation. Besides there are more than 5 counters to clear customers at all big supermarkets while emergency counters are opened when the customers are overwhelming during shopping peaks! Remember that these shopping seasons often come with discounts and special offers on particular goods. Of course every one wants free things, and you can not miss these attractive offers that come like once in a year!
An important advantage of doing shopping at a supermarket is that you’ll find fresh quality products at all times. Remember to always check for expiry dates for consumable goods such as food and warranty for other items such as electronics and such! Some products you’ll buy outside supermarkets such as toiletries and mineral water may be either expired or fake…be keen on where you do your shopping in Uganda.
