BUDONGO
FOREST. Birding safari guide.
The vast Budongo forest lies
at the edge of the albertine rift valley to the south of Murchision
falls Np and protects the largest natural forest area in east Africa
.It boasts and impressive bird list of over 350 species and is the
best site in Uganda for a number of sought-after birds such as Nuhan’s
Francolin, Casssin’s spinetail, Ituri Batis and chest nut-capped
flycatcher. This birding hot spot is also home to Uganda’s
largest population of Chimpanzees. an excellent network of trails
and wide track known as “the royal mile” Provides access
to the forest.

Elevation: 700-1270ma.s.l
Habitat: Medium altitude moist semi deciduous forest,
grassland, Acacia savanna and agricultural lands.
Status : Forest Reserve
Birds Recorded : 350 species
Timing : February – April, September.
Time Required : 2-3 days
