Auditing Services
Auditing is an accounting system used to examine the transparency in financial documentation or records of any business enterprise or company. Financial statements are examined for their accuracy and truth before they are passed as genuine indicators of the company’s financial position.
There are many companies in Uganda offering the audit services for different institutions-private, business corporation and government agencies as well.
Auditors can be grouped into three-internal, External and government auditors. Internal auditors are company employees and their services include evaluating the company policies, procedures, financial records and goals. Internal auditing aims at checking the progress of the company in meeting its plans and goals. External auditors are not part of the company evaluated. They evaluate the authenticity of the company’s financial statements and give an independent report on such financial records.
Any audit firm follows certain systems and arrangements that include planning, picking evidence, evaluation of the evidence and end with issuing an overall report on a client firm. Intense training and detailed guidance is made to prepare auditors for the stress associated with finance, accounting and complicated tasks.
Accountants in Uganda are registered under the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). All certified accountants have a systematic way of doing auditing that requires careful preparation. The task of putting a yardstick to a company’s financial position is not an easy one. The results of audits are provided to the public, company shareholders, lenders, top management and banking institutions because clients and partners need to access such records and assess whether investments with such companies are worthy.
Audits also help management to refocus company goals and aide the decision making process. They also guide a company on regulations set by government. External auditors often have an independent outlook on company’s financial standing which is important in helping a business remain consistent with its goals
